Sunainaa's latest outing Regina, which is helmed by Domin D Silva, is all set to drop on Prime Video on July 25. This apart, the crime thriller will also stream on Simply South on the same date. Regina is directed by Domin D Silva, whose work in the Malayalam film industry comprises Paipin Chuvattile Pranayam and Star.
Sunainaa plays the titular character, a homemaker, who takes on a different avatar altogether after an untoward incident in her life. The plot revolves around a young woman, who gets the shock of her life after her husband is killed during a bank robbery. She sets out to find the people behind the cruel act and avenge her husband's death.
The star cast comprises Sunainaa, Ananth Nag, Bava Chelladurai, Gajaraj, Sai Dheena, Vivek Prasanna, Ritu Manthra, Nivas Adithan and Ajeesh Jose to name a few. The film was predominantly shot in Udumalpet and the remaining portions were canned in Kerala.
Music for the film is by Sathish Nair, who has also bankrolled the film under the banner of Yellow Bear Productions. The film was shot in Tamil, but was also released in Malayalam and Telugu as well. Cinematography is by Pavi K Pavan and editing is by Toby John.
For the promotions, the team of Regina stated that Sunainaa was kidnapped and that she was later found. However, the stunt didn't go well with many and many stated that the act was completely irresponsible from the team.
Though the film was said to have Sunainaa in a power-packed role and marked her first project in a women-centric role, Regina opened to predominantly negative reviews.
According to OTTplay film critic, director Domin D Silva has chosen an intriguing plot for his debut Tamil film, Regina, starring Sunainaa in the titular role. Its story isn't something which we have never come across, but it offers ample scope to deliver a suspense-packed revenge drama.
