Rebel first look: GV Prakash plays a fiery college student in this action-packed drama

The film, directed by debutant Nikesh RS, will have Mamita Baiju as the leading lady

GV Prakash is all set to be seen as a college student in his upcoming film, Rebel. Just as the title suggests, the actor will be seen as a rebel in the film. The film is directed by debutant Nikesh RS, a former associate of Kazhugu fame, Sathyashivaa.

Silambarasan drops the first-look poster
The first look of the film, features GV Prakash amid a protest with the student wing hoisting their flag. Blood is seen trickling down his face even as he is being attacked with a lit bottle. The film is said to be based on true incidents that took place in the 1980s in the Palakkad and Munnar area, according to ETimes. According to the film's director, there will be a lot of action and politics, just like Dhanush's Asuran.

GV Prakash, who shared the poster on his social media handle, wrote, "#rebel first look is here … a super promising script from a debutant director @NikeshRs …. Joining hands wit my fav @StudioGreen2 after the success of #darling amd #trishaillananayanthara @kegvraja @NehaGnanavel @Dhananjayang #rebel @arunkrishna_21 (sic)."

Star cast and crew
Mamitha Baiju, who was supposed to make her Tamil debut opposite Suriya in Bala's Vanangaan, will be eventually entering the Tamil film industry with the project. (Vanangaan is now being made again with Arun Vijay and Roshni Prakash in the lead) The actress will be playing a college student. The supporting cast includes Venkitesh P, Karunaas, Subramaniam Siva, Aathira, Shalu Rahim to name a few .The film is bankrolled by Studio Green, which had earlier produced GV Prakash's Darling and Trisha Illana Nayanthara.

GV Prakash turns producer with Kingston
In the meantime, composer and actor has ventured into film production with Kingston. The title look was launched by none other than Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan. The film has Divya Bharathi in the lead with whom GV Prakash had earlier worked in Bachelor. Kingston is billed as a horror film set in the sea.GV Prakash will also be composing music for the film.
