Malayalam films like Home, Nayattu, and Aavasavyuham were recognized at the 69th National Film Awards
Akhil Marar, director and winner of the recent Malayalam Big Boss reality show has reacted to the National Film Awards 2023. Akhil takes a dig at the jury chairman by saying that the latter should get at least a governor post for presiding the recent edition of awards. However, the season 5 Big Boss winner has also congratulated the winners through his Facebook post.
Akhils' Facebook post read, "This year's National Film Awards jury chairman should be given at least a governor post. I express my gratitude to the jury who at least considered some of the deserved ones. However, I would like to congratulate everyone who received awards." Before the awards were announced Malayalam films like Minnal Murali and Aarkkariyam were speculated to bag major recognitions. Actors Joju George and Biju Menon were in competition for the Best Actor Award, which eventually went to Allu Arjun.

Criticism for award to The Kashmir Files
Earlier, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, MK Stalin came forward against the award given to The Kashmir Files. The Kashmir Files helmed by Vivek Agnihotri won the award for the Best Film on National Integration. Also after the awards were declared there were widespread
Awards for Home, Nayattu and Aavasavyuham
Meanwhile, Malayalam films received 8 awards in the National Film Awards 2023. Home, Nayattu, Aavasavyuham, Chavittu, Meppadiyan, Moonnam Valavu, and Kandittundu were the films which were awarded by the jury. Home helmed by Rojin Thomas was able to bag two awards. Home is the Best Feature Film in Malayalam and Indrans who essayed the lead role in the film got a special jury mention. Interestingly, Home was denied important awards at the Kerala State Awards 2022.
Nayattu, the thriller which depicted the politics and bureaucracy within the state's system was another Malayalam film that made an achievement, this year. Shahi Kabir, the script writer bagged the Award for the Best Original Screenplay. Vishnu Mohan was awarded the Best Debutant Director for his work in Meppadiyan, starring Unni Mukundan. The film was one of the commercial hits last year.
Aavasavyuham which won the Kerala State Awards for Best Film and Screenplay was also recognized at the National Awards. The film was selected as the Best Film on Environment Conservation.
