RDX aka Robert Doney Xavier, the action drama which stars Shane Nigam, Antony Varghese, and Neeraj Madhav in the titular roles, is one of the most successful films of 2023. The movie, directed by newcomer Nahas Hidayath, is bankrolled by Sophia Paul and her home banner, Weekend Blockbusters. However, all is not well between the young filmmaker and the producers, despite the film being a massive success. Sophia Paul and Weekend Blockbusters filed a lawsuit against director Nahas Hidayath for a breach of contract.

According to the reports, RDX producer Sophia Paul and her production banner Weekend Blockbusters approached the court against director Nahas Hidayath, alleging breach of contract. The lawsuit suggests that newcomer Nahas was paid Rs. 15 lakh to direct the RDX movie, as per the contract. The contract had one more clause, which stated that the second film would be for the same production company. However, the filmmaker has now decided not to do his second film with the banner, despite signing the contract.

If the reports are to be believed, the lawsuit alleges that Nahas Hidayath was paid Rs. 40 lakh as an advance for his second film with Sophia Paul’s Weekend Blockbusters. The banner further paid around Rs. 4.80 lakh during the pre-production works of the project. However, Nahas soon announced that he decided to withdraw from films, due to reasons unknown. Even though the producer tried to convince the filmmaker, he decided not to proceed with the second project, under the banner.

According to the reports, the Ernakulam court has summoned Nahas Hidayath, asking the director to appear for a hearing on August 6, 2024. More updates on the same are expected to be revealed soon.
