RDX: Robert Doney Xavier, which hit theatres on August 25 as an Onam release, has already grossed more than Rs 30 crore in the country
After Tovino Thomas’ 2018: Everyone Is A Hero, Shane Nigam and Antony Varghese’s action entertainer RDX: Robert Doney Xavier, which is helmed by Nahas Hidayath, is on its way to become the second Malayalam movie this year to breach the Rs 100 crore barrier.
The movie, which hit theatres as an Onam release, has overpowered its competitors, Dulquer Salmaan’s King of Kotha and Nivin Pauly’s Ramachandra Boss & Co, and is heading towards a worldwide collection of Rs 70 crore. On its 12th day, the film earned around Rs 1.75 crore from the Indian box office and is quickly approaching Rs 35 crore from collections in the country alone.
Shh Rukh Khan's Jawan V RDX
Recently RDX opened to more screens in Bengaluru and will also soon be released in Ireland. However, with Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan set to release on September 7, the movie RDX may lose some of its screens. Jawan has already set a record for pre-booking collections in Kerala and is set to be screened in 300 theaters in the state. Despite this, reports suggest that Jawan may have a difficult time obtaining more shows and screens in Kerala with RDX still performing well.
Why is RDX a superhit?
RDX is an action entertainer starring Shane, Neeraj Madhav and Antony, in the lead roles. The film revolves around three youngsters, Robert, Doney and Xavier, and how their past actions follow them in their later years.
The film features two timelines and also has the actors in different looks. Their retro looks from the 1990s, along with a ‘mass’ scene from Babu Antony, have already evoked nostalgia in the minds of the most audience. The main attraction of the film is its stunt sequences based on martial arts.
Lately, RDX is being compared to Tovino Thomas’ Thallumaala which had garnered a lot of attention for its action-heavy storyline. RDX’s stunt choreography was done by Anbariv, known for their works in Vikram and Kaithi.
Mahima Nambiar plays the leading lady of Shane in this action drama, which also has Lal, Baiju Santhosh, Aima Rose Sebastian, Nishanth Sagar, Vishnu Agasthya and Maala Parvathy. The technical department consists of Chaman Chakko as its editor, Alex J Pulickal as its cinematographer and Sam CS as its composer.
