The Arjun Janya musical will be in theatres on November 25
Kannada filmmaker Pavan Wadeyar’s Raymo is gearing up for its theatrical outing. The film, a musical romantic drama, has Ishan and Ashika Ranganath in the lead. Raymo also stars Prabhu Mundkur, Karunya Ram, Madhoo Shah and R Sarath Kumar in pivotal roles.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Pavan, who has completed a decade in the film industry, spoke about how he rebooted himself after the lean phase he had following Ranavikrama. “I began looking closely at the kind of subjects I was writing and choosing to bring to the screen, the actual making, etc. In the process, I believe that I have updated myself as a filmmaker and the first product after this ‘reboot’ of sorts is Raymo. This, I believe, is a film that will appeal to audiences across age groups,” he had said.
The trailer of the film, which was launched yesterday, is about a fiercely competitive couple – Mohana (Ashika) a classical singer and Raymo (Ishan) a rock singer. The narrative focuses on the ups and downs in their relationship dynamic.
Earlier, Ashika had said that Raymo is her first full-fledged love story. “I don’t think I have done a character like this before, wherein I have got so much scope to perform. It is rare for an actress to get a role that is not only substantial, but also gets almost equal relevance in the narrative as the hero. I am lucky, but also thankful to Pavan sir for considering me for this role and believing that I am apt for it,” she said.
Raymo is Ishan’s second film as a leading man. He was launched by Puri Jagannadh with the Kannada/Telugu bilingual Rogue earlier. Ishan plays a typical rockstar in the film, including the sex, drugs and alcohol routine.
The actor has a film with lyricist-filmmaker Chethan Kumar lined up next. In Telugu, he has a pan-India project called Tatvamasi. He was last seen onscreen in the Telugu web series 3 Roses.
