Rathnam, the upcoming Tamil film starring actor Vishal in the lead role has completed its censor formalities. The film has received a U/A certificate from the Censor Board, the makers of the film announced on social media on Wednesday. Rathnam will hit the big screens on April 26.
Rathnam, directed by filmmaker Hari of Singam and Saamy fame, stars actor Vishal in the lead role. The film is scheduled to release on April 26 in theatres. Ahead of the film’s release, the makers revealed that the censor formalities are complete, with the film receiving a U/A certificate. With Hari’s films having an abundance of action and commercial elements, Rathnam will be no different, given that it is headlined by Vishal who is known for making films in the action genre.
Others in Rathnam’s cast include actors Priya Bhavani Shankar, Samuthirakani, Yogi Babu and Gautham Vasudev Menon, among others. Hari has also written the story, screenplay and dialogues for the film. The makers had released the trailer for the film, which follows the typical Hari style of showing an angry young man who takes violence as the solution to the problems.
National Film Award-winning composer Devi Sri Prasad has scored the music for the film, with DOP M Sukumar handling the cinematography. TS Jay is the editor. Rathnam marks Vishal's third collaboration with Hari after the 2007 film Thaamirabharani and Poojai (2014). Hari has roped in Kanal Kannan, Peter Hein, Dhilip Subbrayan, and Vicky to handle the stunt sequences.
