Rashmika Mandanna recently hit headlines after her deepfake video went viral on social media. A X user pointed out the actress' face was morphed in a clip, which originally featured British-Indian girl Zara Patel. The actress' Goodbye co-star Amitabh Bachchan demanded legal action against the same. Now, Rashmika has finally broken her silence on this matter.

Rashmika Mandanna issued an official statement on her Instagram handle. The actress felt really hurt while talking about her deepfake which is being spread online. She mentioned that this incident is 'extremely scary' not only for her but every one of us who are vulnerable to harm because of the misuse of technology.

The actress further thanked her family, friends, and well-wishers whom she considers her support system. Mandanna added that she couldn't even imagine how she would tackle it if she was in school or college. On a concluding note, the Pushpa star stated that we need to address this matter as a community before more people get affected by such 'identity theft'.

Origin of the video

For those who are unaware, a girl named Zara Patel posted her video on Instagram on October 9, 2023. It features a young girl entering a lift wearing a revealing outfit. Rashmika's face was morphed and it went viral on social media. A lot of people believed that it was the actress' real video. However, it was later revealed that it was a deepfake video of her.

Meanwhile, Rashmika is gearing up for the release of her upcoming movie, Animal. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film marks her on-screen collaboration with Ranbir Kapoor. The film also features Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol. It is slated for a theatrical release on December 1, 2023. It will clash with Vicky Kaushal's Sam Bahadur at the box office.
