Ranveer Singh to team up with HanuMan director Prasanth Varma for a big-budget period film, details inside

Prasanth Varma is planning a big-budget period film set against the backdrop of Indian Mythology with Ranveer Singh.

Ranveer Singh was last seen in Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani which was a box-office success. Since then, the actor has been making headlines for his upcoming film with Farhan Akhtar, Don 3. The actor was also supposed to have a busy 2024 with Sanjay Leena Bhansali's Baiju Bawra, however, the film is said to have been put on hold. And now, we hear that Ranveer is teaming up with HanuMan director Prasanth Varma for a big-budget period drama.

According to the reports by Pinkvilla, Prasanth Varma has been discussing the big-budget film with Ranveer Singh for 3 months now and the duo has met multiple times for the discussions. The report also stated that the director is a big fan of Ranveer's work.

The Bajirao Mastani actor is said to have given a nod for the project as he liked the idea. "Ranveer is sold on the idea and acknowledges the fact that it’s a very ambitious project. It’s a yes from Ranveer for the film in principle and the team is now figuring on other modalities to get things started,” a source close to the development was quoted as saying by the portal.

The report further states that the film will be one of the most ambitious projects created by Prasanth. Ranveer, who is aware of the budget the film requires, wants to announce the project once all the deals about the budget get closed. "Ranveer knows that such projects are challenging, and needs backing from strong producers and studios. While he is bowled over by the concept, script pre-visualization, and vision, he wants to announce the film once all the factors are covered," the source said.

This will be the first time where Ranveer Singh will be working with a South director. As we have seen, the combination of a Bollywood actor and a South filmmaker has worked well for the films. The recent examples are Shah Rukh Khan-Atlee's Jawan and Ranbir Kapoor-Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal. Hence, it will be interesting to watch if Ranveer carries the same luck and breaks box office records with this one.
