The Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2022 were held on Sunday in Mumbai, with Ranveer Singh winning Best Actor for his performance in sports drama 83.
The actor, who played former Indian cricket team captain Kapil Dev, dedicated the win to the cast and crew of 83 as well as "Kapil's Devils." In an Instagram post, Singh shared a brief acceptance speech, where he said being a part of the film has been "an incredible journey and enriching process."
He said that in his decade-long career, he has received the most "love and respect" for this role. Singh added that it's his "beloved audience" that has made him push his boundaries as an actor and play diverse characters on-screen.
"I hope that through my art I can continue to inspire the youth of our nation to follow their dreams with intensity and passion," concluded the actor.

83 directed by Kabir Khan, captured the Indian cricket team's historic world cup win against the West Indies in 1983. The drama also stars Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Dhairya Karwa, Jatin Sarna, and Nishant Dahiya.
