Rani The Real Story OTT release date - Helmed by director-screenwriter Shankar Ramakrishnan, the investigative thriller is all set to hit the digital space soon
Malayalam film Rani: The Real Story, which released in 2023 theatrically, has finally found its digital space after a long hiatus. The investigative thriller, starring Bhavana, is all set to make its OTT debut on Manorama Max starting from March 7.
The OTT platform announced the exciting news on their social media handles through an intriguing poster from the film, which features actor Niyathi Kadambi (daughter of Tamil actress Priyadarshini) in her Malayalam debut, along with Indrans, Guru Somasundaram, Bhavana, Honey Rose, Urvashi and Maala Parvathy.

Helmed by director Shankar Ramakrishnan of Pathinettam Padi and Kerala Cafe fame, the investigative mystery thriller revolves around the titular character Rani (played by Niyathi), who works as a housemaid at a powerful MLA’s house. She is framed for the murder of MLA Dharmarajan (played by Guru Somasundaram) but is strongly supported by three families for whom she works, in the border town of Dharmapuram. How she tackles this tough situation forms the crux of the story. Upon its theatrical release, the film had received positive reviews from critics, who praised the writing and performances showcased by the lead cast.
Notably, Shankar Ramakrishnan is not only a director but a screenwriter and actor who has appeared in several Malayalam films in supporting roles.

The film stars an ensemble star cast including, Indrans, Guru Somasundaram, Maniyanpilla Raju, Ashwin Gopinath, Ashwath Lal, Bhavana, Niyathi Kadambi, Honey Rose, Urvashi, Anumol, Maala Parvathy, alongside Krishnan Balakrishnan, Ambi Neenasam, Ramu Mangalapalli, Athira Sreekumar in key roles.
On the technical front, the film was jointly produced by Vinod Menon and Shankar Ramakrishnan, under the banner of Magictail Works Productions, and co-produced by Jimmy Jacob under June Ventures. The cinematography and editing were handled by Vinayak Gopal and Appu Bhattathiri, while the music and lyrics were composed by Mena Melath and the original background score was done by Jonathan Bruce.
