Randeep Hooda is all set to play a titular role in an upcoming biopic titled Swatantra Veer Savarkar, directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. Based on the life of an unsung hero of India’s freedom movement, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, the anticipated film is produced by Anand Pandit and Sandeep Singh.
The Sarbjit actor announced to be a part of the movie by sharing a couple of images on his official Instagram handle. The first picture features him in a retro look, while the second one has the actor standing alongside the director and both the producers. The latest post reads, "Kuch kahaniyaan batayi jaati hai aur kuch jee jaati hain! Grateful, excited and honoured to be part of #SwatantraVeerSavarkar's biopic (sic)."

Born on May 28, 1883, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was a freedom fighter, politician, lawyer, writer and social reformer. Talking about his character and the upcoming project, Randeep said, “There are many heroes that have played their part in getting us our independence. However, not everyone has got their due" He further added that Vinayak Damodar Savarkar is the most misunderstood, debated and influential of these unsung heroes and his story must be told.
The Kick actor also mentioned that he is delighted to collaborate with Sandeep (producer) after Sarabjit, for another challenging character to portray.
Speaking about his forthcoming venture, the director, Manjrekar mentioned in a recent statement that the movie will be an edgy cinematic narrative that will force people to revisit India's history.
The actor-filmmaker also shared the same images as Randeep to announce his next venture on Instagram and mentioned that he is excited and honoured to be a part of the project.
