One will have to sit down and dissect everything that has happened with the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal, which has been running successfully in theatres for close to a month now. The movie has broken records, set new ones, and is busy not just crossing but creating milestones through its theatrical run. It is one of the most successful Bollywood movies at this point, and it isn’t even close to ending its theatrical run. But what made this possible is a significant question because many have labelled the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer misogynistic and problematic for its story and theme.

About Animal

The discussion around how problematic the gaze and the conversation in Animal are, with people busy calling out director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, and he is busy shutting everyone down with a logic that not many will understand and only he can digest. But while all of this is still a very active discussion, one thing everyone agrees on is that Ranbir Kapoor has given a brilliant performance as the misogynistic man-child with pointless rage, Ranvijay. And his father-in-law, Mahesh Bhatt, agrees.

Alia Bhatt’s father, Mahesh Bhatt, has praised his son-in-law as he rides on a massive wave of success with Animal. As per Pinkvilla, in his statement, the veteran filmmaker said, “Animal is a three-plus-hour cinematic rarity that boldly defies mainstream norms.”

He further appreciated Ranbir Kapoor as Ranvijay Singh and applauded his performance. He even went on to call him a unique Bollywood creature. Mahesh Bhatt added depth to the film and made ‘the animal live throb and pulse with the primal beat of life.” He even went on to comment on Ranbir and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s collaboration, calling the partnership an "unprecedented and unapologetic cinematic journey."
