Rishi Kapoor passed away on April 30, 2020.
It's been nearly three years since Rishi Kapoor passed away. The actor's demise created a void in Indian cinema, and his son, actor Ranbir Kapoor, reveals that he also misses him dearly. During a group media interaction, he revealed that he still has Rishi's photo as his phone screen saver and talked about how happy his father would have been seeing him as a parent.
Ranbir stated, "I miss him a lot. I miss him every day, especially now that I have seen The Romantics. I really felt emotional. I remember that day he was shooting the show; the next day he was admitted to the hospital, and we lost him in a month's time."
He added, "Losing a parent is a very big deal in anyone's life, and I think of him every day. I'm also blessed with a daughter, and I feel like somewhere he would have been very happy for this moment in my life. I think of him every day; he's with me every day. My phone's screen saver still has his photo."
Earlier, during an interaction with PTI, RK had said that when one of the parents passes away, it is the biggest thing in a person's life, and that is really noteworthy. The typical age when something like this occurs is when one is approaching their 40s. Nothing can adequately prepare them for that, but it strengthens family bonds and helps one comprehend life.
Ranbir further shared that it has both positive and negative effects. He is fortunate to have been blessed with a girl. The actor counts it a blessing that Alia and he got married last year. There have been both highs and lows, but that's just how life is.
The actor thinks that it will take him a few years to fully understand how his emotional growth has affected his skills. Ranbir stated that one is impacted as an artist, but he guesses it's hard to say immediately, perhaps after a few years.
The actor was working on the movies Brahmastra and Shamshera while his father was sick and getting treatment. There are beautiful recollections when he sees Brahmastra. Still, there are also sequences he sees that remind him of times when his father, Rishi, was either receiving chemotherapy at the time or was using a ventilator. Yet, Ranbir won't understand how it benefits him for a few years.
