Ranbir Kapoor’s reputation extends far beyond his impressive filmography and critically acclaimed performances. He has equally been in the news for his personal life and numerous rumoured romances with co-stars. However, the controversy surrounding his last film, Animal (2023), has surpassed all previous scandals, leading to intense public backlash.
In a recent interview with Nikhil Kamath, Ranbir attempted to set the record straight by sharing candid insights into his life and addressing several rumours.
In the interview, Ranbir revealed that he has been unfairly branded as a ‘cheater’ for a significant portion of his life, a label that persists to this date. He admitted that it once troubled him and affected his mental health, making him feel unwanted in the industry. However, accepting the label helped him a lot.
He then emphasised that people actually don't know the real story and always react to a one-sided story. Ranbir also accepted that it was his fault that the issue became so big because he chose to stay quiet. He said that it really doesn't bother him anymore and that he has chosen to prioritise his own emotional well-being, stating that if the ‘cheater' label brings happiness to others, then so be it.
The Ramayana actor further told Nikhil that during the early stages of his career, he was in relationships with two successful actresses, which earned him the label of ‘Casanova’ or ‘playboy’. Public perception overshadowed his professional accomplishments and that made him suffer for a very long time.
After the massive success of Animal, Ranbir is currently busy with Ramayana, which is expected to be the most expensive film in Indian cinema to date.
He also has Love & War, which stars his wife Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. This is the second time that Ranbir will be collaborating with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, after his debut film, Saawariya (2007).
