Produced by Karan Johar, the upcoming film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna Akkineni
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s highly anticipated superhero film, Brahmastra has finally locked in on a release date. The Karan Johar production will be released in theatres on September 9, 2022, coinciding with the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Maharashtra.
According to reports in Pinkvilla, the release date would be officially announced in the coming weeks, and would not be postponed any further.
The makers are reportedly working on the final VFX work of the film, and that the final version of the film was shaping up to be one that matched the director’s vision.
It was also reported that the film would be distributed on a wide scale not only in the country but also overseas. The makers were also planning on conducting a grand scale of promotional activities for the film as well in the period leading up to its release.
The film had begun production back in 2018 and the final shooting schedule of the film had been wrapped up recently.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, Brahmastra is touted to be a superhero film that will include elements from Hindu mythology. Mukerji has referred to the film as a ‘contemporary film with ancient elements’. The film is intended to be the first instalment in a planned trilogy.

In addition to Kapoor and Bhatt, the film will also star Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, Dimple Kapadia and Nagarjuna Akkineni.
Brahmastra will be released in multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
