Ramayana update - Here's when Ranbir Kapoor's film will go on floors; actor to shoot for 60 days in Mumbai

Ranbir Kapoor will reportedly play the role of Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana. The actor is expected to shoot for 60 days in Mumbai for the movie.

Ranbir Kapoor had been basking in the success of his film Animal. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film was released on the big screen in December 2023. Despite polarising reactions, Animal did extremely well at the box office. After Animal's success, Ranbir is all set to move on to his next project, which is filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana. The actor might shoot for the film for 60 days in Mumbai.

Ranbir Kapoor to begin Ramayana's shoot?

According to ETimes, Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana is said to be mounted on a big scale. The film, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, will reportedly go on floors in March 2024. Having said that, the shoot of Ramayana will be mainly done on sets in Mumbai. Ranbir is likely to shoot for 60 days for the mythological epic in the city.

After the Mumbai schedule, the makers will later head to London, to shoot the Lanka portion of Ramayana. The overseas schedule will also take place over 60 days, where Yash will join Ranbir for the shoot. The KGF 2 star is expected to essay the part of Ravan in the film. As per the media report, the makers plan to release Ramayana in the second half of 2025.

Ranbir Kapoor's upcoming projects

On the work front, Ranbir Kapoor has come on-board for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War. The actor has reunited with his wife Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal for the movie. A few days ago, the makers made an official announcement about the movie on social media. The film is set for a theatrical release on Christmas 2025.

Besides Love & War, Ranbir has Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal Park lined up. The film will go into the scripting stage this month and it is expected to go on floors in 2025. Having said that, Kapoor also has Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra 2 and 3 lined up. It remains to be seen which one of these Ranbir Kapoor films releases first on the big screen.

Meanwhile, he recently won the Best Actor award for his performance in Vanga's Animal.
