Nitesh Tiwari is right now shaping an adaptation of the mythological epic that stars Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in the lead.
While there are big updates about Bollywood making all the waves possible, there is a separate space where only updates about Ramayana are making noise. The retelling of the mythological epic in the hands of Nitesh Tiwari has made a massive buzz even before the movie has gone on floors. As Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi are reportedly prepping to go on sets to play Lord Ram and Mata Sita in the movie, there have been several rumors and speculations about the movie doing rounds on the internet. The latest one now talks about Amitabh Bachchan probably joining the magnum opus. The report has now created massive chaos and if this turns out to be true the project might end up getting the shiniest star cast in recent times.
As per a Bollywood Hungama report, the latest update about Ramayana says that Amitabh Bachchan may join the Nitesh Tiwari Magnum Opus, and if that is not enough to excite you already, the megastar will be roped in to play the role of King Dashrath, the father of Lord Ram. This will mark the reunion of Ranbir Kapoor and Big B, who last collaborated for Brahmastra and will be seen in the sequel together for the same. While there is no confirmation about the same for the Sai Pallavi and Ranbir-starrer, the rumors are strong.
However, this won’t be the first time Amitabh Bachchan has been roped in to play King Dashrath in the retelling of Ramayana. Years ago when Hrithik Roshan was cast as Lord Ram and Zayed Khan was up to play Lakshman, Big B was cast as the father King by Sanjay Khan. The movie never got made, but seems like the character was written in Amitabh Bachchan’s kitty and the megastar will finally be seen as the King in the upcoming movie.
The reason why this rumour also feels possible is because Nitesh Tiwari has managed to rope in some very interesting actors. While Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi are locked to play Lord Ram and Mata Sita, Yash has been cast as Ravana. The rumours are that Sunny Deol is playing Lord Hanuman and Rakul Preet Singh has been cast as Surpanakha. This morning we heard that Navin Polishetty will be seen playing Lakshman alongside Kapoor. So, if Big B agrees to play Dashrath, we shouldn’t be shocked.
Meanwhile, Nitesh Tiwari is leaving no stone unturned to make a worthy adaptation of the mythological epic. As per reports, he has already wrapped up the prep to begin filming with final tech check in place. As per reports, Ranbir Kapoor’s look as Lord Ram will be simplistic and not try to be very dramatic. The look test that took place recently reportedly had Kapoor bare bodies dressed in era-appropriate costume and jewelry. The test concluded with a conclusion that Kapoor will not bulk up for the role but will be his lean self.
There is no release date attached to Ramayana as of yet, but the filmmaker is planning to go on floors with the cast soon. Ranbir Kapoor is also taking up tuitions to get the dialect of the era correct. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more information on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
