Pelli Choopulu fame Naveen Bethiganti plays the lead role and directs the film also starring Srikanth Iyengar, Thagubothu Ramesh
It’s impossible to keep Oscar-winning Naatu Naatu singer Rahul Sipligunj out of news these days. The song has given him the much-needed credibility in and beyond the country and he’s now the go-to singer for any number with a Telangana folk flavour in Telugu cinema. His latest number is Oo Sundari, a lilting melody from Naveen Bethiganti’s rural comedy Ramanna Youth.
Kasarla Shyam has penned the lyrics for Oo Sundari, which has music by Hrudaya Kaleyam, Sridevi Shoban Babu fame Kamran. The song starts with Naveen showing his photo in a vernacular newspaper to his girlfriend. The latter, in response even says, ‘What’s the big deal about it? Do you even care for me or bother to gift me something?’ She’s all coy when he hands over a flower to her.
The leisurely paced melody unleashes a different dimension to Rahul Sipligunj, conventionally known for his catchy dance numbers. The pleasant visuals focusing on the countryside, where the lead pair appears to be having a jolly-good time, forgetting the world around them. The raw cinematography and the simplicity of the composition instantly win you over.
The lyrics, with the opening lines ‘Raju Gani Mellona..Silakala Peru Nuvvu Ney.. Moju Paddadey Nee Painey..Oo Sapna’, aren’t anything out of the box but tug at your heartstrings for how they celebrate ordinariness. Kasarla Shyam, who hogged the limelight for Balagam recently, adds another feather to his cap with Oo Sundari as well.
Srikanth Iyengar, Thagubothu Ramesh, Rohini, Aneel Jela, Yadamma Raju, Vishnu Oi, Amulya Reddy, Kommidi Vishveshwar Reddy, Jagan Yogiraju, Bunny Abhiran, Manya Bhaskar, Venu Polasani played other pivotal roles in the political satire produced under Firefly Arts and presented by Silly Monks Studios. Fahad Abdul Majeed cranked the camera for the film whose story is written by Naveen and Bhavani.
