The film had witnessed the second highest opening for a Hindi film in 2022.
Akshay Kumar’s luck at the box office seems to be on the verge of changing for the better at last. After a fairly good opening day, his latest venture, Ram Setu is putting up an encouraging run at the box office. The third day of the film’s theatrical run saw it earn approximately Rs 8.75 crores.
Thursday’s figures take Ram Setu’s total box office earnings to Rs 34.4 crores, which make for good numbers for Akshay compared to his previous releases of the year. The film had also witnessed the second highest opening for a Hindi film in 2022, after Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
Ram Setu had earned approximately Rs 15.25 crores on its first day, while its second day collections had amounted to Rs 11.40 crores. The film was a Diwali release, hitting the big screens on October 25, and the decline in earnings post the holidays are expected. It remains to be seen if the action adventure film can hold out during the weekend.
The film follows the story of an atheist turned believer archeologist< who is tasked with finding the proof of the existence of the mythical Ram Setu bridge. In addition to Akshay, the film stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushrratt Bharuccha and Satya Dev in pivotal roles. The film was written and directed by Abhishek Sharma. Ram Setu was produced by Aruna Bhatia, Vikram Malhotra, Subaskaran, Mahaveer Jain and Aashish Singh.
Part of the review of the film on OTTplay reads “Ram Setu is an amalgamation of Indiana Jones, National Treasure, and even Blue (yes, that same Akshay Kumar starrer). But, like many others who seek God, you will become distracted by the pursuit of good execution”.
After its theatrical run, Ram Setu will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
