Raktabeej: Shiboprosad Mukherjee recalls Soumitra Chatterjee’s first impression of Mimi Chakraborty

Mimi Chakraborty looks nothing short of dashing in a white shirt, blue jeans, leather boots, and matching sunglasses. It is her look as Sanjukta Mitra, the SP of Burdwan. Mimi Chakraborty is coming to the big screen as the SP in October in the film Raktabeej, directed by Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy. Mimi is back in a Shiboprosad-Nandita film again after 2016. She worked with them in the film Posto. Seven years have passed since then. In the meantime, Mimi worked as the heroine in Shiboprosad and Nandita’s first Hindi film – a remake of Posto that also features Paresh Rawal. Director Shiboprosad shared his experience of working with Mimi.

Shiboprosad shared the first look of Sanjukta Mitra on Facebook. He wrote, “I met Mimi in 2016. In one of her solo scenes in Posto, Soumitra Chatterjee told me, ‘She is like K L Rahul! Where did you find her? You did not tell me. A triple century in the debut test!” This time, Mimi is more mature and in a new package. SP Bardhaman, Sanjukta Mitra.”

Abir Chatterjee pairs up for the first time with Mimi in the film. Veteran actors like Victor Banerjee and Anashua Majumder will also play important roles.

Meanwhile, Abir jokingly compared Mimi with pulao and mutton in a chat with Victor Banerjee. The actor said, “Mimi is like the combo of pulao and mutton. Delicious to eat, but problematic if you cannot digest.” Victor was by Abir’s side. He smilingly agreed. Victor compared Abir with Mughlai preparation, rezala. Abir compared Victor with the aristocracy of Darjeeling tea.
