The actor-filmmaker is hoping for a spot of peace and quiet owing to the time zone difference to finish off the script of his next directorial
It’s almost a decade since Rakshit Shetty made his directorial debut with the impressive Ulidavaru Kandanthe, a film that many say heralded the return of rooted cinema in a big way. Over the years, he has spoken about multiple ideas that he’s looking at directing and bringing to the screen, but eventually, the lure of answering all the unanswered questions of his debut film was too much to ignore and Rakshit decided to return to the director’s chair with Richard Anthony – Lord of the Sea; a movie that will serve both as a prequel and sequel to the events of Ulidavaru Kandanthe and its lead character, Richie.
Rakshit had been working on the script between schedule breaks of his latest acting commitment, Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, and had thrown himself fully into the process since completing the Hemanth Rao directorial. The actor-filmmaker had taken off to Goa to write a draft of the script, but realized that as long as he is in the country, there will be some disturbance or the other preventing him from getting into a zone and completing the writing.
The best solution, he reckoned, was to take off to a country with a vastly different time zone, so he’s chosen to spend the next month at least in the USA and, hopefully, finish the final draft of Richard Anthany. Speaking to reporters outside the polling booth where he’d gone to exercise his franchise, Rakshit said that he’d postponed his travel plans to ensure that he would cast his vote. He leaves tonight and is expected to be back in time for the promotions of Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, which is currently in post-production.
