The actor-filmmaker’s focus right now is to ensure that audiences see him as an artiste who does varied roles, the pay-off of which he will get with his next directorial, Richard Anthony
Kannada actor-filmmaker Rakshit Shetty has a very clear vision about how he sees his career progression. Despite the relatively good success of his earlier 777 Charlie, which he’d released as a pan-India film, with his current movie, Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side A, he waited three weeks before taking it to Telugu audiences. Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati Side A will be in theatres in Andhra and Telangana on September 22. The Malayalam version will come out a week from then. This staggered release approach seems strange, given that pretty much every hero worth his salt these days tries to give each and every film maximum reach with a pan-India release, thereby, continuously building on the fan base across the country.
Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side A: Netizens urge Rakshit Shetty to release film on OTT; here’s why
Rakshit, though, says that he is not in a hurry to get to such a fan base. He’s here to play the long game and is looking at building his profile as an actor. Right now, Rakshit believes that his next, Richard Anthony, will have a far wider reach and better result than, say, what 777 Charlie got or what Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati will achieve. Richard Anthony, he reckons, is well and truly his film, as he has written the script and will direct and act in it. “When I do Richard Anthony, I know that it is a film that I want to take across the country. And when that happens, people will surely want to see what I have done prior to it. Then, when they watch Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, 777 Charlie, Avane Srimannarayana, Kirik Party or Ulidavaru Kandante, they will value these films even more, because for them, the guy who did Richard Anthony, also did such widely varied roles. My profile as an actor is changing completely with every film,” Rakshit said while speaking to a Telugu digital channel, adding that results will come to him in a bigger scale with Richard Anthony.
