Several Tollywood films are to be released after the election. Some of the films’ releases were announced beforehand, and the film Amar Boss, directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay, was one of them. It was scheduled to be released on June 21. However, speculations suggest that the release can be postponed.

Rakhee Gulzar made her comeback to Bengali cinema after 21 years with this film. Hence, people were excited about the film. Why is the release postponed? Several versions are coming as answers. According to a report on Anandabazar Online, the Windows film Dabaru is running in the theatres. Hence the makers do not want to bring any other film at this moment.

A few months back, Shiboprosad was hurt while shooting an action sequence in the film Bahurupi. He has recovered, but doctors advised him to be careful. Generally, Shiboprosad and Nandita promote their films for a month which requires lots of labour. A source says that people close to Shiboprosad do not want to get him involved in so much exhaustion right now.

Rakhee’s return is important, and hence the makers will want to release the film at the right time and after suitable promotion. Hence, they do not want to take the risk in this small time window.

When will the movie be released? Shiboprosad told Anandabazar Online, “Many things got delayed due to my accident. We completed Bahurupi’s shooting a month and a half after the stipulated deadline. Nothing is final yet. We plan to announce something regarding the release soon.”

Bahurupi will be released this Durga Puja. It remains to see when Amar Boss gets released.
