Rajkummar Rao says Mr and Mrs Mahi does not just focus on cricket: It's about relationships, human emotions

Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor will soon be seen in their latest collaboration Mr and Mrs Mahi. In the film helmed by Gunjan Saxena director Sharan Sharma, both actors will be seen as cricketers.

In an interview with Pinkvilla Rao spoke about the film's story and shared his excitement about working with Kapoor after the horror-comedy Roohi last year.

Rao said that Mr and Mrs Mahi does not just focus on cricket but will explore a lot more. "...Cricket is an important part of the film, but the film is not only about cricket. It’s about relationships, it’s about dealing with human emotions – about how we feel in life. I can’t reveal much about it right now," said the actor.

Rao called Kapoor "fabulous and brilliant" at what she does and that he is excited to share the screen space with her again. He added that Sharma is hardworking with a great eye for detail and is still making minor changes to the script whenever he has the time.

According to PTI Rao and Kapoor will play Mahendra and Mahima in the cricket-based drama. Sharma has co-written the script with Nikhil Mehrotra.

Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta are producing via Dharma Productions. Mr and Mrs Mahi will be released in theatres on October 7.

Meanwhile, Rao is gearing up for the release of Badhaai Do a comedy with Bhumi Pednekar on February 14. The film is a sequel to the 2018 National Award-winning hit Badhaai Ho!
