Did you know? Rajkummar changed his name by dropping his last name, Yadav to Rao.
Rajkummar Rao, who recently played the title role in Stree 2 has once again talked about changing his surname. For the people who are unaware, Rajkummar changed his surname from Yadav to Rao. While talking about the success of his recently released film, the actor also opened up about the questions regarding his surname change.
In a recent chat with YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra, Rajkummar Rao talked about why he changed his name from Yadav to Rao. He said he did this to avoid confusion since there are multiple people who go by that name in the film industry. He can be heard saying, "Aisa koi rule nahin hai (to change name after entering the industry). Maine kabhi surname use kiya nahi tha. Mere passport mein bhi sirf Rajkummar hee tha (There’s no such rule. I had never used a surname before. Even in my passport, it’s just Rajkummar)."
He also mentioned that he has done it so that people do not get confused about which Rajkummar anyone is talking about as the industry already has people with same names like Rajkummar Hirani, Rajkummar Santoshi, Rajkummar Gupta. He said, "This is for people to not get confused as to which Rajkummar you are talking about. Rajkummar Hirani, Santoshi, Gupta or this one. And Rao is a title which is given to Yadavs, so I started using it.”
Meanwhile, Rao is currently on cloud nine after delivering the blockbuster film 'Stree 2' with Shraddha Kapoor. The film has already crossed Rs. 400 crore mark at the box office and is still doing well. It is to be noted that the film was released with two other big Bollywood releases: Akshay Kumar, Vaani Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu's 'Khel Khel Mein' and John Abraham and Shrvari starrer 'Vedaa'.
