According to The Indian Express Rao's colleagues from the film industry including Bhumi Pednekar and Aparshakti Khurana expressed excitement on this development.
Fans also reiterated this emotion and in the comments section speculated whether this project is the sequel to Stree.
In 2018, producer Dinesh Vijan, who bankrolled Stree along with Raj and DK had confirmed that Stree 2 is on the cards, according to a report in Firstpost.
Vijan had said that the makers had always imagined Stree as a franchise and the sequel will be set before the events of the first film. It was also reported that Stree 2 would go on floors in 2019, however, there has been no update on the film ever since.
Among Rao's other upcoming films is Anubhav Sinha’s Bheed, HIT: The First Case, Badhaai Do, Monica, Oh My Darling and Mr And Mrs Mahi.
