Rajisha Vijayan’s Kho Kho to release on Simply South and Saina Play OTT
Kho Kho was released in theatres on April 14 this year, but the filmmakers decided to withdraw the film from theatres just a week after its initial release due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases caused by the second wave of the pandemic.

Kho Kho starring Rajisha Vijayan, is all set for its digital release on the regional OTT platforms Saina Play and Simply South. This Malayalam sports-drama will air on the streaming platform right after its world television premiere on Asianet which is scheduled for May 28. The film has been directed by award winning filmmaker Rahul Riji Nair, who bagged four Kerala State Film Awards for his 2017 movie Ottamuri Velicham. Apart from Rajisha, Kho Kho also stars Mamitha Baiju, Venkitesh VP and Renjit Shekar Nair.
Rajisha, who impressed audiences with her performance in Karnan will be seen playing the role of the coach of a Kho Kho team in a school. Her character is set to train a group of girls in a sport that everyone is apprehensive about. The movie is a typical sports drama, filled with a lot of emotions, excitement and action. The film is directed and produced by Rahul Riji Nair under his own production banner First Print Studios.

Nair, thanking everyone for supporting the film, shared a statement explaining his decision to switch to an OTT platform for his film. “We released the film at a time when the Covid situation was going out of control. Though the response in the first few days has been positive, things began to look different in the following days after the second wave arrived. Those who were eager to see the film couldn’t do it because of it. Though the film was even able to withstand the cancellation of second shows, things are not looking favourable after the enforcement of more restrictions,” he said.
OTT platform Simply South recently took to Instagram to announce the movie’s digital release with the hashtag #KhoKhoOnSimplySouth. Though a date of release has not been confirmed yet, Kho Kho is expected to release online only after its television premiere which leads to speculations that it will start streaming on or after May 28.
