The film is the Superstar's second continuous project with Sun Pictures ,
Rajinikanth with Redin (L) and Nelson (R)
Director Nelson Dilipkumar has been at the receiving end of trolls after the release of Vijay-starrer Beast (streaming on Netflix and SunNXT) which hit the screens a couple of months ago. Many fans of the star and other film buffs expressed disappointment on the filmmaker's lackadaisical making and screenplay which led to the hostage thriller opening to mixed reviews.
His next project with Rajinikanth, tentatively titled Thalaivar 169, was announced before the release of Beast. Fans of the Superstar are a little skeptical about the movie's outcome ever since Beast failed to meet the expectations.
As if this wasn't enough, there were rumours that Nelson would be shown the door. However, the three-film old director confirmed his inclusion in the project by updating the tentative title of the movie on his Twitter bio. Meanwhile, many speculations have been doing the rounds in terms of the film's cast and title.
Redin Kingsley, who is a regular in Nelson's films, has now opened up in a press interaction about the status of the project. On whether he will be a part of the movie, the comedian said that discussions on its cast and crew are happening now and that the director has completed writing for the film's first half.
He also said that Nelson is hell-bent on making the project a blockbuster, and that he, too, is looking forward to it. There has been news that veteran filmmaker KS Ravikumar would pen screenplay for the movie. But Redin quashed it as a rumour and that he is surprised with such baseless speculations.
Redin was seen in a brief role in Rajini's previous outing Annaatthe (streaming on Netflix). Fans of the Superstar are curious to know how Nelson would present their matinee idol in Thalaivar 169.
