The shoot for Superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming film, Jailer, is all set to begin tomorrow. The film is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, who had last helmed Vijay's Beast. A grand set has been erected in Chennai for the shoot and it looks like Rajinikanth will be seen as a jailer in the film, just as the title suggests. The team, which was hitherto referred to as Thalaivar169, is bankrolled by Sun Pictures.

The makers announced the title of the film with an interesting poster. The poster had a blood-soaked meat cleaver dangling from a chain inside what seems to be an abandoned rundown factory. The makers wrote, "#Thalaivar169 is #Jailer (sic)." The poster won a lot of appreciation among the audience, who said that the film will be loaded with some high octane energy sequences going by the poster.

This is the maiden collaboration between Rajinikanth and Nelson Dilipkumar. Music for the film is by Anirudh Ravichander. The star cast includes Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi and Redin Kingsley. We hear that Vasanth Ravi has undergone a complete makeover for his character. Though the leading lady is yet to be announced, there is a buzz that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan might be considered for the role. Cinematography will be handled by Vijay Kartik Kannan. After the first schedule in Chennai, the team is likely to shoot the second schedule in Hyderabad.

Nelson Dilipkumar's previous release Beast, which released on the occasion of Tamil New Year, had received mixed reviews from the critics and audience. Some of the scenes in the film were ridiculed by many and even went on to became part of a meme fest. Vikram director Lokesh Kanagaraj came out in support of Nelson through his social media page.

Similarly, Rajinikanth's last release Annaatthe, too, opened to negative reviews from the audience. The film was directed by Siruthai Siva.
