On August 10, Superstar Rajinikanth’s much-awaited Nelson directorial Jailer hits theatres . Distributed in Karnataka by AV Media Consultancy through Jayanna Films, advance booking was supposed to open on August 3, a week ahead of the film’s release, but it was delayed and kicked off in full swing only today, August 5. Jailer is being released in Tamil with dubbed versions in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. So far, though, screens have only been allotted for the Tamil, Telugu and Kannada versions in Bengaluru, with the latter getting all of one show. The bulk of the screens and shows have, obviously, been allotted to the Tamil version.

What has surprised fans who were eagerly waiting to book tickets is the rate at which tickets are being sold at city multiplexes for the first day first show. PVR Cinemas has pegged regular tickets at Rs 800, while recliner seats cost Rs 1,400 each. Inox Cinemas rates are Rs 700 and Rs 1,200 respectively for similar seating arrangement. Depending on the location of the multiplex, this rate can vary. For instance, a recliner seat at PVR Cinemas on Old Madras Road is Rs 800, while the same chain charges Rs 1400 in Bellandur, Whitefield, Rajajinagar, Bannerghatta Road, etc. Considering that it is a week-day release, the mid-afternoon shows get a slightly lower pricing, which goes back to the morning rates in the evening. Despite these rates, bookings are showing a healthy upward trend, especially for the early morning shows.
