Lal Salaam, the upcoming Tamil film starring actors Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles, has been certified U/A ahead of the film's release on Friday, the makers of the film announced on social media recently.

The film is directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth and will feature her father and actor Rajinikanth in a cameo appearance as Moideen Bhai . Lal Salaam is a cricket-based film and will also boast the special appearance of veteran cricketer Kapil Dev. Lal Salaam will be hitting theatres along with Lover, starring Manikandan in the lead role.

All we know about Lal Salaam:

Lal Salaam is directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth, the elder daughter of veteran superstar Rajinikanth. The film will mark the first time she is collaborating with her father. It is backed by Subaskaran under the banner of Lyca Productions. While Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth, trained cricketers themselves, play the leads, the film’s cast also includes Senthil, Jeevitha, Thambi Ramaiah, Ananthika Sanilkumar, Vivek Prasanna, and Thangadurai, among others. Lal Salaam has music by AR Rahman, with Vishnu Rangasamy handling the edits. B Pravin Baaskar is the editor of the film. The film is said to be inspired by true events and will have a high emotional quotient, stressing the impact of communal riots.

Rajinikanth's words on Lal Salaam:

At the film's audio launch conducted recently, Rajinikanth explained that the meaning of the title translates to "salute to the revolution." He claimed that the film will address an important contemporary issue: maintaining trust and compassion among different communities.

He also recalled Aishwarya's pitch for Lal Salaam. She introduced the project to him by saying that this film would win a National Award. "I immediately decided not to hear the narration. I am not against winning awards, but I am not for making movies only for the sake of awards. I also want to be well rewarded monetarily," he joked. Rajinikanth revealed that after Baba (2002), he decided not to produce ever again and that decision even applies to movies made by his daughters.
