Quick Take | Maamannan Review: Mari Selvaraj's no-brainer is only redeemed by Vadivelu's screen presence

Maamannan has been garnering positive reviews from celebrities for its thought-provoking narrative and social commentary. Earlier, even movie icon Kamal Haasan heaped praises on the movie and said the film resonated with his political beliefs.

I have seen this film. More important than wishing it a success, I desire to see it succeed. I am not just saying it because of my friendships (with the filmmakers). The voice in this film must be heard. The voice in this film doesn't just belong to Mari but to millions of people," Kamal Haasan said at the audio release event of Maamannan.

Recently, filmmaker Pa Ranjith, another filmmaker devoted to amplifying the dehumanising effects of caste prejudices in society, praised the movie, while reminding Udhayanidhi about such problems within his political party DMK.

Maamannan stars Vadivelu, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Keerthy Suresh and Fahadh Faasil, who have delivered remarkable performances. The narrative carries a strong message of equality and the consequences of compromise in the face of societal prejudices.

Maamannan was released in cinemas last week and is running successfully in cinemas.
