Not many expected that he would talk about his Superstar title which has created a fan war among cinephiles on social media for some time. There are many who have been arguing that Vijay has surpassed the Kabali star in terms of stardom in Kollywood.

Several fans of the Leo star have been projecting their matinee idol as the current Superstar, and this has irked Rajini's admirers for quite some time. During his speech, Rajini confessed that he had once decided to give up the popular title. However, he was concerned about a few criticizing that he must have taken the decision out of fear.

This made him reconsider the decision. He also said that people are misunderstanding some of the references in the lyrics of songs in Jailer. "Some people come up with random theories and speculate unnecessary things. Such people exist everywhere and there is hardly anything we could do to stop them. Our focus should only be on the job we are doing," he said.

He also spoke about taking a short hiatus after his previous outing Annaatthe as he couldn't come across a good script. Rajini took the names of filmmakers who boosted his career and added Nelson, too, to the list.
