Karm Yuddh is produced by Happi Digital Production and is releasing on September 30, 2022, exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar.
In a war of blood against blood, who wins and at what cost? Disney+ Hotstar announces the trailer of this conundrum through its epic tale of power and revenge with an all-new family drama, Hotstar Specials’ Karm Yuddh. Based in the city of Kolkata, the family drama revolves around the power-hungry lives of the Roys, who have dominated the economic horizon of the city for decades. It captures the quest for control over the flourishing Roy Group of Industries.
Produced by Gautam Adhikari, Makrand Adhikari and Kailashnath Adhikari of Happi Digital (Shri Adhikari Brothers) Production and Directed by Ravi Adhikari, the series stars a talented ensemble that consists of Satish Kaushik, Rajesh Khattar, Ashutosh Rana, Paoli Dam, Ankit Bisht, Pranay Pachauri, Soundarya Sharma, Chandan Sanyal and others. Veteran actor Rajesh Khattar, who plays, Vardhan Roy, a paralyzed second heir to the business, shared his challenges of playing a character with restricted mobility.
“It becomes quite challenging to play a specially-abled character as we actors normally use our bodies as tools to enact. Small movements like a hand gesture, style of walk, or even a shoulder shrug, convey a lot about what the character is going through, but when you are stripped of all these, then all you are left with is the face. In Vardhaan’s case, he could not even use his face, so all I was left with was the eyes to express. The entire gamut of emotions he was going through had to be conveyed through his eyes,” he said.
He also added how his own research and a few helping hands helped perfect the role. “To pin the character, I referred to a few real-life cases to get the hang of it but largely had to depend on my own and our director Ravi Ji's input. Since most of my scenes were with Paoli, I took her feedback as well,” he added.
Paoli Dam leads in the crime drama thriller, Karm Yuddh which follows the life of the wealthy Roy family and the dysfunctionality within their household that's corrupted by greed and power. The plot takes us on a journey that starts with a gruesome mass murder of the employees of the Roy industry and their familial power dynamics. Satish Kaushik, Ashutosh Rana, and Ankit Bisht act as cast members of the Roy family. Ravi Adhikari directs.
On September 30, 2022, Karm Yuddh will start streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
