It is known that SS Rajamouli's RRR has been smashing records left, right and centre in many places. It is currently the highest grossing movie in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana; the collections made by the filmmaker's Prabhas-starrer Baahubali 2 has been outperformed in 10 days.
The movie has been raking in the moolah in the neighbouring states as well. Rajamouli, who has become a big brand of sorts in Tamil Nadu, with back-to-back success of Eega (streaming on aha), Baahubali and Baahubali 2 (both streaming on Disney+ Hotstar), has once again proven that he is the numero uno Tollywood celebrity when it comes to fanbase in Tamil Nadu.
RRR, which has been minting money at the Kollywood box office from day one, has now comfortably surpassed the collections earned by Baahubali. Baahubali 2, which went on to become the highest grossing movie in any language in Tamil Nadu in 2017, is now the only Telugu movie which is ahead of RRR in the state.
Movie buffs are eagerly waiting to know if the Ram Charan, Jr NTR-starrer would be able to emerge as the biggest Telugu hit in Tamil Nadu. The film is reportedly said to have grossed ₹60 crores at TN box office till now. The much-awaited biggies Beast and KGF 2 are arriving in 10 days' time. There is only one weekend left before the two big movies hit the screens in a huge number of screens in Tamil Nadu.
Baahubali 2, which released towards the end of April, had a dream run till the beginning of June, thanks to the summer season and lack of other big ticket movies in Tamil Nadu.
Allu Arjun's Pushpa (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) and Mahesh Babu's Spyder (streaming on Netflix, Zee5, Jio Cinema and MX Player) are other two films that manage to find space in the top five highest grossing Telugu movies in Tamil Nadu.
