In what's a welcome departure from the rustic, mass outings for Telugu actor Raj Tarun, he'll play a stand-up comedian Rahul in a peppy romantic comedy titled Stand Up Rahul. He pairs up with Middle Melodies actress Varsha Bollamma in a fun outing directed by first-time filmmaker Santo Mohan Veeranki. The teaser of the film, which wrapped its shoot recently, was released earlier today.
It's certainly refreshing to see a Telugu film protagonist actually doing a job, having a life beyond wooing his girl. It's even more interesting to see the lead character as a no-holds-barred stand-up comedian. The teaser takes us through the highs and lows of his love life and how the protagonist uses his profession as a medium to vent out his frustration.
The star-studded cast, beyond the lead pair, is certainly a highlight with the likes of Murali Sharma, Indraja, an ever-funny Vennela Kishore and Madhurima Narla. Catchy lines like 'Single ga vunte puli authadu, Ammayitho vunte pulihora authadu', the flashy picturisation and a terrific finishing touch by Vennela Kishore are enough to say that Stand Up Rahul's teaser is a winner.
Sreeraj Raveendran cranks the camera for the film which has music by Sweekar Agasthi. Stand Up Rahul is produced by Nandkumar Abbineni and Bharath Maguluri.
