Directed by Mithilesh Edavalath, the anthology has Raj serving as actor, dialogue writer and, now, presenter too
Raj B Shetty is bringing a film he’d worked on earlier, Roopanthara to theatres. But for a song, Kittale, sung by Chaithra J Achar and composed by Midhun Mukundan, not much is known about the film. And going by Raj’s announcement earlier today, it won’t be long before we do. Roopanthara, a Kannada anthology directed by Mithilesh Edavalath, on which Raj has served as actor and dialogue writer, is being brought to theatres by him.
Is Raj B Shetty’s big reveal about Roopanthara?
Raj will distribute the film through his Lighter Buddha Films and release it theatrically on July 26. While there are no other major Kannada films listed for July 26, Roopanthara is up against Hollywood biggie Deadpool & Wolverine, Dhanush’s Raayan, among others. The film is yet to be censored, although an under three-minute trailer has, and so that should be out shortly.
Incidentally, not long after Raj’s film was announced, another Kannada film with Kishore and Sangeetha Bhat was also in the making. This was meant to be the actress’ return to Kannada cinema, after a brief hiatus, but has not been heard of since.
Meanwhile, Raj, who was last seen onscreen as the antagonist in Malayalam superstar Mammootty’s home production Turbo, will be seen in the upcoming Kannada web series Ekam that releases on July 13. His acting commitments in Kannada also includes a pivotal role in composer Arjun Janya’s directorial debut 45, which has Shivarajkumar in the lead. He’s also been signed on to play the antagonist in Duniya Vijay’s next, which is to be directed by Kaatera writer Jadesha K Hampi, who has made films like Gentleman and Guru Shishyaru earlier.
