When Vincent stayed in the South of France and collaborated with Paul Gauguin on art projects, the Sunflowers paintings were an integral part of his enduring legacy. One painting was destroyed in World War 2, while the second was last displayed in the 1940s.

Unfortunately, one of them is sadly lost forever. The prices of the remaining five artworks have set records due to their soaring popularity.

Many of the Monk’s paintings from his era are also marked as missing.  In 2004, the Monk’s Museum’s version of the Scream was also stolen, including another important painting, Madonna.
