Raid 2, the much-awaited sequel to Raid, has generated significant buzz since its announcement. But fans are disappointed since its release is uncertain
Ajay Devgn's Raid
It's been six years since director Raj Kumar Gupta and Ajay Devgn’s film Raid was released. The crime drama is the true story of one of India’s most daring income tax raids, which was led by Amay Patnaik, the IRS Deputy Commissioner of the Income Tax Department. The film’s narrative centres around Patnaik’s courageous confrontation with the cunning and corrupt Rameshwar Singh, which kept the audience on the edge of their seats.
The sequel, Raid 2, was announced in late 2023 and has since created significant buzz on social media. The makers also announced that, apart from Ajay Devgn, the sequel will also star Riteish Deshmukh and Saurabh Shukla.
But the release date of Raid 2 remains shrouded in uncertainty, as the makers seem to be wavering on their earlier commitments. Initially, it was announced that Raid 2 would be released in theatres on November 15, 2024, hinting at a potential clash with Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again.
In a surprising turn of events, ETimes revealed today that Raid 2 might not be released this year, citing on-going post-production work as the main reason. The shooting for the sequel wrapped up in May.

Raid was appreciated for its unflinching realism and gritty narrative approach. Inspired by the real-life incident from the 1980s, the epic operation spanned three days and two nights, making it the longest running raid in Indian history.
Although the story of Raid 2 is still under wraps, the sequel is expected to show more captivating stories of the unsung heroes of the Income Tax Department. Raid 2 might shed light on bravery and sacrifices which these government officers went through while searching for justice.
