Ragini Dwivedi’s next in Tamil cinema has her as a gaming addict

The film, directed by Rajan, will have a fair share of action

When Ragini Dwivedi returned to acting after a brief break, she took up a relatively small bilingual. Asked about her choice of film, she had said that work brings more work and it looks like her gamble has paid off. The actress has films in Kannada, Malayalam and Tamil, with the latter really picking up.

Earlier this year, Ragini Dwivedi marked her return to Kollywood with One 2 One, opposite Sundar C, which she followed up with a cameo in director Prashanth Raj’s Zoom remake with Santhanam and Tanya Hope. She has now signed up for her next in Tamil cinema. Called Email, the under-production film helmed by Rajan will have the actress in an action avatar, which, she says, will be new for Tamil audiences. In Kannada cinema, Ragini has had her fair share of action flicks, so, she is excited that a new set of audiences will get to see that side of her.

Incidentally, Email will be Ragini’s first solo lead film in Kollywood, and is based on a real-life event that happened in Chennai, involving mobile game addiction. In the film, which deals with the pros and cons of gaming, Ragini plays a mobile gaming addict in the film, which will be shot across locations in Bengaluru and Chennai, among others.

Meanwhile, back home in Kannada, Ragini is excited about her comeback film, Sorry, which has the tagline Karma returns, in which her character has three distinctive shades. A revenge drama, the film is being billed as the birth of a superhero. Directed by Brahmanand Reddy, the film is a social drama with mystery thriller elements to it and revolves around karma’s triumph over tyranny.

As for her Mollywood return, the actress is awaiting the release of Sheela, a Malayalam-Kannada bilingual, in which she plays a single mother on a mission. In an earlier interaction with OTTplay, she had said, “Sheela is my return to Malayalam cinema after Face 2 Face. I play the title role, which is an interesting interstate character, who speaks both Kannada and Malayalam, and then has to face some very difficult situations after the death of her husband, which is what brings her to Kerala in the first place. It’s a suspense-revenge thriller. The first half is nice, with some glamour too, but the second half is raw and gory.”

The actress will also soon be a part of the Kannada film Karva 3 as well as Johnny Walker.
