Raghavendra Stores: Shwetha Srivatsav says she's blessed to have got the opportunity to work with Jaggesh on a fun family drama
Shwetha is paired with Jaggesh in the film

Shwetha Srivatsav was on a self-proclaimed maternity break and had shown no inclination of wanting to return to a life in front of the camera when she got a call from director Santhosh Ananddram. The filmmaker was casting for a quick project he was doing for Hombale Films with Jaggesh in the lead and thought that Shwetha would be perfect for the role he had in mind. Shwetha, though, was stunned for a moment that she was being considered by the banner, which, at the time was fresh off of the success of the KGF franchise.

Speaking during the promotions of the film, which is releasing in theatres on April 28, Shwetha says that she is blessed and fortunate to have been given the opportunity to collaborate with the banner, director Santhosh, leading man Jaggesh and the rest of the cast and crew. What surprised her most, she says, was that the role was of the leading lady, which, as a mother, she thought would not be as easy to come by as earlier. “I was thrilled, because after all these years in the industry, I had not really been a part of an out-an-out comedy. Raghavendra Stores, for that matter, is not only a comedy, but also a family drama with a pertinent message. My role is that of a simple, humble homemaker, who is also a singer – a character that also has a comedic strain. I say that I am blessed to have got the role because the team had two actresses in consideration as leading lady and I was then chosen by Jaggesh sir, who thought I would be best suited, a decision that Santhosh seconded,” says Shwetha.

Interestingly, though, until last evening’s trailer, Shwetha’s character was not revealed in the film’s earlier teaser or song. “People have asked me if I was really a part of Raghavendra Stores and if I have a full-fledged role after all. In fact, since Jaggesh sir’s character was revealed as a bachelor, there were more questions as to what I would be doing in the film. Audiences are curious. All will be revealed on April 28,” she says.
