Ramachari 2.0 has been written, produced, and directed by Thej with Raghavendra Rajkumar playing the role of a father
Kannada-Tamil actor Thej, known for films like Rewind and Meese Chiguridaga, had announced back in 2020 that he would be directing a film called 'Ramachari 2.0'. Thej would also be playing the film's male lead with Kausthuba Mani slated to play the female counterpart in the film.
And now, as per the latest reports, Raghavendra Rajkumar has been roped in play a crucial role in the film. The reports suggest that the senior actor will be playing the role of a father in the film while actress Swathi Rao, known for her roles in some of the '90s films, will be seen essaying a mother's role. Raghavendra Rajkumar and Swathi Rao, reportedly, are reuniting after a gap of 25 years with 'Ramachari 2.0'.
The story of 'Ramchari 2.0' is a nod to the yesteryear classics Naagarahaavu, Ramachaari, and the more recent blockbuster Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari (starring Yash and Radhika Pandit). Thej plays Ramachari in the film who takes after the character of the same name played by Dr. Vishnuvardhan in Puttanna Kanagal's Naagarahaavu. Thej's Ramachari, however, is the new-age version who is tech-savvy and a hacker, unlike his yesteryear namesake.
Kausthubha Mani, in this vein, plays the character called Margaret in the film which comes as a strong reference to both Naagarahaavu and Santhosh Ananddram's Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari. Kausthubha rose to prominence for her lead role in the TV serial Nannarasi Radhe and this will be her silver screen debut. Jaleela, which was Rebel Star Ambareesh's breakout performance in the 1971 film, will be played by Vijay Chendoor. Online reports also reveal that Swarnarekha, Ashwini Haasan, Divya Sundarraj, and others too play key roles in the film.
Coming back to Raghavendra Rajkumar, the actor is currently etching his comeback to films following a long gap. He will be seen in a thriller titled 'Sthabda' with Harshika Poonacha who plays his daughter in the film.
