Raftaar has dropped out of the new season of MTV Roadies as gang leader after Neha Dhupia and Nikhil Chinapa. Additionally, long-time host, Rannvijay Singha has been replaced with actor Sonu Sood.

In an interview with The Indian Express the rapper said that he was not meant to be a part of the new season, in spite of the changes in the show's format. He added that he has another commitment, a film with Nawazuddin Siddiqui that he is producing.

"I had already said no to the season before these changes took place. I can’t talk about it but I have signed up for something else," he told the news outlet.

On Sood taking over Singha's hosting duties, Raftaar said that he believes the actor will bring "a new look" to the show but he cannot "deny the 18 years of legacy Rann bhai has left."

Raftaar first join as a gang leader in 2018 but last year Varun Sood replaced him after the rapper had to leave citing other commitments.

Chinapa also spoke about his four-year-long journey with The Indian Express and said that he will miss the show, his fellow gang leaders and crew who had become his "extended family."

Roadies the MTV reality show that first aired in 2003, is going to begin its 18th season in South Africa soon. It is expected to air sometime in March. All seasons are also available to stream online on Voot.
