Also starring Pooja Hegde, the movie hit theatres across the country on March 11
Radhe Shyam starring Prabhas and Pooja Hegde was one of the biggest releases of the year. Following its release, the movie has been hit with negative reviews from fans and critics who were less than impressed with the romantic drama.
With the big project attracting negative reviews, director Radha Krishna Kumar seems unhappy. He has also taken to the comments section of social media users to express his displeasure.
The director suggests that the movie was always touted to be a romantic drama and blames critics for expecting more action in the movie.
In a recent interview, the director said, “You go to a vegetarian hotel expecting them to serve chicken biriyani? We have always told this is a love story, but critics are bashing us saying there is no action in the movie. That make any sense?"
Though the movie received less than favourable reviews, Radhe Shyam has had a strong run in the box office. An official statement from UV Creations yesterday confirmed that the movie has minted Rs 151 crore across the globe in the first three days in all languages.
While Radhe Shyam’s numbers are looking strong, there is still a long way to go considering the period romantic drama was made with a massive budget of Rs 300 crore.
“Radha Krishna Kumar doesn't do anything to integrate the spirit of Italy into the story. Nothing about the film would've changed even if it was set in Australia or France. Beyond the props, you barely realise that you're watching a film set in the 70s.” reads OTTPlay’s review for the movie.
Produced by UV Creations and T-Series, Radhe Shyam is available in theatres around the country.
