Radhe Shyam the period romantic drama starring Prabhas and Pooja Hegde in the lead, hit theatres after much fanfare today. The latest buzz around the movie’s box office numbers suggests that it has already hit the Rs 200 crore mark.
Reports suggest that the big project movie has already crossed the Rs 200 crore mark around the globe. In the states up north, the romantic drama expected to take an opening of Rs 5-6 crores with the rest depending on how it is received.
In the south, where Prabhas is a big name following the release of Baahubali in 2015, the movie is expected to mint big money, regardless of its reviews. According to reports, the movie is expected to collect a whopping Rs 320 crores in its theatrical run if it gets a blockbuster tag.
Written and directed by Radha Krishna Kumar, the period romantic drama also stars Bhagyashree, Krishnam Raju, Jagapathi Babu, Sachin Khedekar, Priyadarshi and Kunaal Roy Kapur, among others in supporting roles.
Radhe Shyam is receiving mixed to fairly poor reviews so far. “Simply put, Radhe Shyam is style minus any substance and it makes Prabhas' earlier dud Saaho seem infinitely better. That's not a standard you'd want to set for a film. All that glitters is not gold. Neither the story, writing nor the performances. This is a long ride to hell,” wrote Srivathsan Nadadhur for OTTplay.
The movie has also fallen prey to piracy, with several torrent sites already leaking the movie’s print online.
Radhe Shyam which has been released in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, is now running in theatres across the country.
