Race 4 has now become the talk of the town and the reasons are Saif Ali Khan and Sidharth Malhotra; here's what we know.
With Saif Ali Khan returning to the franchise he once owned, excitement around Race 4 is reaching new heights. Saif, who was part of the first two films of the franchise, was replaced by Salman Khan in the third installment. Though the movie performed well at the box office, chatter about fans' disappointment was quite evident. The absence of Saif and missing elements led Race 3 to face criticism. Now, with the OG actor returning and Sidharth Malhotra joining to play a crucial role, there is a lot of buzz surrounding the film. To simplify the details, we have gathered all the information about the movie.
Shiraz Ahmed, the writer of all three previous Race films, shared in a conversation with Bollywood Hungama that the film will go on floors in January 2025. According to Ahmed, “Race 4 will go on floors in January (2025). The script is almost completed, and so is the casting. Saif Ali Khan and Sidharth Malhotra’s casting is already out in the media. The rest of the cast will be revealed by the producers, Tips Films, at the right time in a proper announcement.”
With growing excitement around the film, Ahmed also teased fans with a possible storyline: "For Race 4, we have continued the story and characters from Race 1 and 2. We have gone back to the same world of the first two films," he shared.
For Ahmed, Race 3 was a challenging project. With Salman Khan on board, there were only so many experiments he could do. For him, keeping up with Salman Khan's aura and image was a challenge, as the audience had never accepted "Bhaijaan" in a negative role. While talking about Race 3's failure, Ahmed shared, "In Race 3, we shifted a bit from the Race franchise in terms of characters. If you remove the title ‘Race’ from the film, you will enjoy it. People went to see Race, but they got something else. We had Salman Khan in the film, so you need to keep certain things in mind. He doesn’t play negative roles, and his fans would never like to see him in such roles. So, certain boundaries were set. Still, we tried to do whatever we could."
Though there has been no confirmation about who will direct the fourth film in the Race franchise, fans are eager to see the return of Abbas-Mustan. After two successful films in the franchise, Abbas-Mustan left the director’s chair for the third one, which was later directed by Remo D'Souza. Race 3 disappointed fans, who now wish to see the OGs back together. With Saif’s return, if Abbas-Mustan takes on the director's chair, it will be a thrilling watch.
As production is set to begin in January 2025, more details are expected to be revealed soon, including the rest of the cast, the much-anticipated director announcement, and more.
