Dhanush’s ambitious directorial venture Raayan might not hit the big screen in April, as announced earlier. Earlier, it was reported that the makers of the Dhanush directorial had zeroed in on April 11 as the release date. But according to the latest buzz, it is being speculated that the film might be out in May instead of April due to the upcoming general elections. If the rumours are true, we can expect an official announcement from the makers very soon!
Not just Dhanush's Raayan, the release dates of several other highly anticipated Tamil films have been pushed till the end of the election buzz. Films such Vikram-starrer Thangalaan and Suriya-starrer Kanguva have been eyeing a release date post May. Although there has been no clarity over all the multi-starrer films getting released simultaneously, we can expect a huge wave of releases post the election.

Dhanush will also be starring in this film. Raayan, which was tentatively called D 50, marks the second directorial film of actor Dhanush and the 50th film in his acting career. In the upcoming gangster drama, Dhanush is rumoured to be playing a cook who was formerly a gangster with a hidden past. The film also stars Selvaraghavan, SJ Suryah, Kalidas Jayaram, and Sundeep Kishan in pivotal roles. The film will also have a dance number choreographed by dance icon Prabhu Deva.
Kalidas and Sundeep are rumoured to be essaying the roles of Dhanush’s brothers in the gangster drama. The character posters of Prakash Raj, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Saravanan and Aparna Balamurali were unveiled earlier. Actress Dushara Vijayan will be playing the female lead in the film, which has music composed by Academy Award-winning composer A R Rahman.
Interestingly, as reported earlier, Dhanush’s eldest son Yatra, will be foraying into Kollywood as a cinematographer in the upcoming gangster drama Raayan, creating further interest in the already much-hyped film.
