Kalidas Jayaram is currently awaiting the release of Por, which will be released on March 1. He is also part of Dhanush's Raayan
Actor Dhanush recently announced his directorial film, Raayan, and released the first look. While the makers are leaving no stone unturned when it comes to giving updates about the film, actor Kalidas Jayaram, who stars in it, opened up about Raayan and working with Dhanush. Kalidas Jayaram is currently awaiting the release of Por, in which is co-stars alongside Arjun Das. The film is directed by Bejoy Nambiar and will hit theatres on March 1.
From the first look, it is expected that Kalidas, along with Sundeep Kishan, will play prominent roles in Raayan, which has Dhanush in the lead role. On the sidelines of promoting his film Por, Kalidas said in a recent interview, "It (working in Raayan) is a dream come true and I have enjoyed his (Dhanush's) films and acting so much in theatres. I don't know if I can say this, but I adore and look up to Dhanush sir as much as I do Kamal (Haasan) sir. Apart from acting, he is also a prolific filmmaker and visionary. I am happy to work under his direction and share screen space with him. Raayan will be a visual treat to Dhanush sir's fans.”
Sun Pictures is backing Raayan, which is Dhanush’s 50th outing as an actor. The film also stars Selvaraghavan and SJ Suryah, among others. AR Rahman has composed the film's music.
Earlier, there were rumours that the film’s story was a reworked version of the script penned by Dhanush's brother and filmmaker Selvaraghavan. However, Selvaraghavan has quashed the claims and clarified that he has not contributed to the script of Raayan. The filmmaker is part of Raayan’s cast and this will be the first time that he is being directed by his brother, Dhanush.
Reports also suggest that Raayan is a gangster drama with Dhanush playing a cook at a restaurant in North Madras. At one point, the mystery behind his past is revealed, which shocks everyone. It appears that the 'regular' cook is a former gangster with a secret past. Kalidas and Sundeep are rumoured to play his brothers.
