Ranganathan Madhavan, who has gained immersive experience over the years in Kollywood (Tamil) and Bollywood (Hindi film industry), has ventured into direction with his upcoming film Rocketry. The actor has been so passionate about the project that he suffered financial losses. It went on to the extent that he lost his house, Madhavan has revealed.

The actor was talking to Siddharth Kannan on his show. The host asked R. Madhavan if his income stopped for two years because he was immersed in Rocketry. The actor corrected him and said that he has been just afloat for six years because of the movie. He added that he worked on a few projects so that they can fund Rocketry.

“However, I don’t have a house of my own,” Madhavan claimed. He shared that he has promised his wife that they would buy a lavish home after Rocketry releases.

The actor, who turned a director with this project, said that he has no regrets about spending the amount of time behind Rocketry. He said that it has been the most enriching experience of his life.

Rocketry tells the tale of Indian scientist Nambi Narayan. The man has been tagged as an ‘arrogant genius’ and from what Madhavan has revealed so far, the film claims just how misunderstood Nambi was in his real life, even when he made some astonishing breakthroughs in the world of science.

Starring Madhavan himself as Nambi Narayan, the movie will also feature superstars Suriya and Shah Rukh Khan in the Tamil and Hindi versions respectively. The movie is slated to release in theatres on July 1.

R. Madhavan has not confirmed the OTT release date or platform for his film. However, the actor also recently spilled that he will almost never turn Rocketry into a series, even when the tale of Nambi Narayan can be said in eight hours. However, the actor-turned-director did hint that the movie might get sequels. Currently though, Rocketry shows Nambi Narayan’s life from age 29 to 70.
